There is a big culture of nightlife and clubbing in Brighton. This was quite new for me as Flagstaff only has bars downtown, but no clubs. There are 3 main clubs in Brighton, all of which are open every day of the week and on weekends. If you decide to go clubbing, I recommend buying tickets online beforehand so that you do not have to wait in long lines. Also check out the club websites to see when they are hosting student nights with discounts or theme nights! As for what you should wear to go clubbing, I have found that you can dress casually or dress up and either is fine. There are no strict dress codes enforced at any of the clubs I went to. Also, all of the clubs have a coat room where you can safely store your coat for a small fee. This is great because the weather was still very cold when I arrived in Brighton in January. Another thing to note is that clubbing culture starts much later in England than what you might be used to in the US. While in Flagstaff most of the bars close at 2am, here the clubs only start getting full around 12 am and they stay open until 4 or 5 am. Also because some of the clubs have student nights with drink discounts during the week, it is very common for people to go clubbing on a random week night rather than just on Fridays and Saturdays. Also note that as an international student you need to bring an ID to get into clubs. For some reason, the clubs here did not accept my drivers license as a valid ID and I had to bring my passport.

If you are not interested in going clubbing, there are also lots of cool pubs you can check out in Brighton. Many pubs will also show live sports like soccer (aka football) or rugby if you are interested in that. My favorite pub in Brighton is the King and Queen because it looks like a medieval castle. Pubs will also check your ID at the door, but unlike the clubs, a driver's license is fine. The University of Sussex also has 2 on-campus bars which are very fun. They are busy on weekends and weeknights alike. They also offer fun games like karaoke and quiz nights with prizes.
