What happens after graduation? What I've learned while being at Sussex

Hi everyone, in this post I’ll be talking about how my semester abroad has informed my career after graduation.

This semester has challenged me academically because the structure of the English university system is much different than what I am used to at NAU. In the past I have performed well with a structured academic system. By this I mean classes where there is a strict/reliable weekly schedule of homework and quizzes. Although these can be a lot of work, I found them helpful because they forced me to study consistently. At the University of Sussex, however, the approach is much less organized and students are expected to guide their own learning. This includes doing weekly readings and studying for exams without much guidance from the professors. I think experiencing this will help me as I continue in my education after graduating from NAU when I attend dental school. I realize that any education after a bachelors degree will increase in difficulty and learning will be largely independent. Studying at the University of Sussex gave me a glimpse at what I can expect when studying for exams and tests during dental school. While I am still not 100% comfortable and confident in this approach to learning, I appreciate that this semester has pushed me out of my comfort zone and required me to manage my time more effectively.

Here of a few more of my favorite pictures from Brighton :)
